Sutherland-based heritage breed salmon producer Loch Duart is making its Chinese market debut at this week’s 2026 China Fisheries & Seafood Expo.
Taking place from 28 to 30 October in Qingdao, the largest city in China’s Shandong Province, CFSE hosts over 45,000 visitors from 136 countries.
Loch Duart is positioning its product at the luxury end of the country’s evolving culinary and retail landscape. It is valued by chefs worldwide for its quality, consistency and versatility, from premium sushi and sashimi to innovative restaurant dishes.
Russell Leslie, sales & processing director at Loch Duart Salmon, said: “We’re not coming to China to sell another commodity salmon into an already crowded market. We’re here to introduce what we believe is the finest farm-raised salmon in the world.
“Loch Duart is different in so many ways from much of the salmon currently available in China. Our unique heritage breed, with genetics closer to wild Scottish salmon, our high-quality, marine-rich diet and exceptionally low stocking densities all contribute to a salmon with outstanding taste, texture and quality.
“We’re confident that once people taste Loch Duart, they’ll understand exactly what sets it apart and why it’s a premium worth paying for.”

Leslie continued: “We’re particularly interested in meeting premium retailers, leading chefs and restaurant groups who are genuinely looking for something exceptional.
“Customers who recognise that not all farm-raised salmon is created equal and want to offer their customers the very best.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand in Hall B9 at stand 0418, sharing our story and, most importantly, letting the quality of our salmon speak for itself.”
Loch Duart’s debut in China follows a busy year of international activity, including Seafood Expo North America, Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona and a trade mission to India.
